Kannada and other Indian languages in Photoshop

Problem:

The problem on Indic languages are straightforward. We do not get the words right. You will understand if you have been bothered by this issue. The words come out like "ಕನನ್ ಡ" Instead of "ಕನ್ನಡ" I assume the issue is the same with other Indian languages too. I have seen blog posts and screenshots on forums.

Declaration:

I use Photoshop CC and google IME for language support. I have tried baraha, and nudi also. They did not help. I have been taking screenshots of needed kannada phrases from notepad and using colour range or one of those selection methods to extract the font as an image. Have installed a lot of fonts in hope to type in kannada freely, but all in vain.

What worked finally:

Finally after revisiting the problem that had bugged me for months, today i happened to try this and it worked.

Edit >> Preferences >> Type >> 'Choose Text Engine Options' >>

Select "Middle Eastern and South Asian"

>> OK

As the warning says "Changes will take effect the next time you create a document" The old documents do not accept this change. However Kannada is working for me flawlessly on new documents.

Note:

1. I haven't tested this for all the fonts or all versions of PS/Adobe, 'Akshar Unicode' and 'Noto sans' is working.
2. I've heard that professor B. M. Sreekantayya also a popular poet and novelist thought of fonts like "ಕನನ್ ಡ" when he had to design kannada fonts for typewritters back in the days.
